INTRODUCTION

Taylor Swift is the biggest thing these days. People are dishing out a fortune just to see a pop star, paying up to and over $1000 for a single ticket. Her stardom has solidified over the past few years.

So, let’s look at the astrology of Taylor Swift. She was born on 13 December 1989 in Reading, Pennsylvania, USA. That gives us the general planetary placements.

PLANETARY ANALYSIS

She is a Sagittarius Sun sign. From this, we know she is the adventurous type with a strong philosophical longing and a desire to explore all the world has to offer, whether physically or esoterically. Her Moon in Cancer suggests she is a caring person who likes to nurture people and can be quite sensitive. Family is a major driving force. She has an intense intuitive sense to her. Her Moon is quite powerful as it is in the sign it rules. Her issue would be not being moody, watching for temper tantrums, or becoming overly emotional.

The other planet she has in its rulership is Saturn. Saturn rules Capricorn and is in Capricorn. This gives her the ability to be organised and structured. This signature results in the person being a hard worker, but they can also tend to overwork because they are overly disciplined and dedicated. A fear of authority may have existed early in her life, but seeing how she has adapted to stardom, she is now embracing authority.

The other planets she has in rulership are the two co-rulers of Scorpio: Mars, the traditional ruler and Pluto, the modern ruler. Scorpio is often maligned, but it can be a deeply profound sign. The main part of the chart remains unknown, and that is the Ascendant. The Ascendant is the degree of the zodiac on the eastern horizon when she took her first breath, which equates to the time of birth. Her birth time is unknown as she has not revealed it. There is a website that suggests there are two times circulating the internet. Both are in the morning, with one being at 5:17 and the other at 8:36.

In performing a rectification or correcting a birth time, you must look at life events through transits, progressions, and solar arcs to see if the events correlate to the natal chart. While natally, they could be considered reasonable interpretations of Swift, I found they did not align with her life events.

While I have not done an extensive rectification, the time I picked seems to be reasonably close, assuming she was born between these two times in the morning. I have picked 7:08.

DELINEATION

This chart gives her a Sagittarius Ascendant. Jupiter is the ruler of the chart and is conjunct the Moon. It has been stated she is very close to her mother. Jupiter is also exalted in Cancer, meaning the planet is like an honoured guest or like your besty who can go to your fridge and grab a beer without asking. It is her ruling planet and next to the host (Moon) of the house (Cancer). The signature suggests she has a solid pulse on what people want.

Sagittarius is known for being a free spirit, where she has the ability to be wild if she wants to, but she actually tempers that because of the stellium in Capricorn. With rebellious Uranus, thinking Mercury, musical Neptune, and orderly Saturn all in Capricorn in the first house makes her quite disciplined as well as a clinical thinker. She is a musician, so Neptune, the planet of music, in the first house makes sense since she’s been playing even child. Rebellious Uranus in the Capricorn means she rebels against the status quo of pop stardom by being down to earth and not a party girl.

Because Sagittarians like their freedom, this is true for her relationships. I also chose this time because it gave her Gemini on the descendant of relationships. Gemini is a double-bodied sign (twins) and is mutable, meaning it is adaptable and can fluctuate. She has had a revolving door of relationships. Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, rules her seventh house of partners. Mercury also rules words or the voice, and it is conjunct Neptune (music), which is one reason she sings about her many relationships or ex-boyfriends.

She has Capricorn, the sign of the banker, on the cusp of the second house of values and money. With Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, in Capricorn and conjunct Neptune (music), suggests her money comes from her music. Mercury rules money, and Mercury, Neptune, and Saturn are all conjunct and in her first house. Saturn also rules real estate, which is how she invests some of her money. According to Business Insider[i], Swift has invested $100 Million in real estate. For those who think she’s a fluffy pop star, think again. If this birth chart is accurate, it paints a picture of a savvy businesswoman with a pulse on what she needs to do to succeed.

CONCLUSION

We could examine more dates, but this list works reasonably well. The 5:17 time sort of works if it is corrected to around 5:22, where it works only for some of the charts of life events but not all. I will leave it to the astrologers out there to examine all three charts and come up with their own conclusions or times. I look forward to seeing when she was actually born.
